Ancient Arcade: By The Flame marks Matt’s first foray into game development. “I was messing around in RPG Maker for the first time ever, and I was watching a lot of Attack on Titan too, and my goal at the time was to write music for video games. I really wanted to write epic-sounding music for RPG’s. And while nothing ever came of my RPG Maker game, I was able to pump out the ‘By The Flame’ EP, which I’m still proud of to this day.” — Matt
Here’s a look a ‘The Last Song’, an unreleased track written for the ‘By The Flame’ EP.
“In the Ancient Arcade storyline, ‘The Last Song’ was actually supposed to be the second-to-last song. It was written for the point in the story where the heroes, all but defeated, manage to lift themselves back up one last time, and head out towards the final encounter. But I was never 100% happy with the mix or the song writing; I could never quite finish the song properly, despite loving certain parts of it.” — Matt
